Asif loves reading stories

Thank you for ensuring that Asif, and 34 other children like him are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program for a year.

Twelve year old Asif lives in a slum comminity in Mumbai and is a student of grade 6 in a local school. Despite being in secondary school, Ashtuq would struggle to read words in Marathi. However, within a few days of Pratham starting a remedial summer camp in his community, he has started reading with relative ease. See the smile on his face after he realizes he can read an entire paragraph without fumbling over words!!!

Asif wants to become a police officer when he grows up. He loves watching and playing cricket in his spare time.

Your donations will ensure that Asif and 34 other children like him are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.
