On his way to medical school

Growing up in a low income neighborhood in Mumbai, Dinesh attends his local government school. However, at school he was not learning well enough. When Pratham conducted a learning camp in his neighborhood a year ago and tested local students, Dinesh could only read words, not sentences or stories. Fortunately there was a Pratham summer camp in his neighborhood, where his uncle enrolled him for additional studies.

Over the course of the year, Dinesh learned to read and write effectively with the help of Pratham’s special teaching techniques and unique pedagogy. In math also, Dinesh has improved dramatically. Where he could identify numbers, he is now doing two digit addition and subtractions. Dinesh’s favorite subjects are Hindi and science.

In his spare time, Dinesh loves to watch television, going cycling and discovering new places in the city. Dinesh wants to be a doctor when he grows up so that he can cure people and save lives.
