Unleashing creativity

Nine year old Komal studies in Grade four of a government school in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Her father is a farmer while her mother is a housewife. Komal’s family is very supportive of her willingness to learn and wants her to do extremely well in life by getting a good education.

When Pratham conducted a learning camp in her neighborhood and tested all the students in that area for proficiency in various subjects, the tests revealed that Komal was not at her grade level in language and math. In language, she could only read words while in math she could only identify numbers. With the help of Pratham’s unique pedagogy and special learning techniques, Komal can now read full paragraphs. The interactive nature of the learning camps has also helped Komal in unleashing her creativity. Today she can come up with own stories and narrate them beautifully.

And, her math skills have skyrocketed. She can do two digit addition, subtraction and multiplication problems with ease. Komal loves attending the Learning Camps as she feels that learning is now fun and interesting. She also feels confident when she goes to school. Komal wants to be a doctor when she grows up. With her enthusiasm and willingness to learn, we are sure that Komal will be a success story.
