Shekhar wants to become a police officer

Shekhar
Dear Vijay, Shrivathsa, Ryan, James, William, Urmi, Raji&Raj, Rahul, and Rajinder,

Thank you for coming together to ensure that Shekhar and 34 other children like him are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program for a year.

Nine year old Shekhar lives in a slum community in Mumbai, and studies in grade 5 at a local school. When he grows up, he wants to become a police officer. Shekhar loves attending the Read India Library Program, where he is encouraged to pick up whichever books he wants to read. Not only have his reading skills improved, he has developed a love for books and reading. His favorite story is the fable of the crow and the tall glass.

Your donations will ensure that Shekhar and 34 other children like him are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.

Thank you, for doing your bit to ensure that ‘every child in India is in school and learning well‘.
