Nagma wants to become a police officer

Nagma
Dear Sascha, Krish H, Kavish, Aabhas, Charanya, Shyla, Bela, Anusha, Erin, Anuja, Vandana, and Maya,

Thank you for ensuring that Nagma and 34 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program for a year.

Twelve year old Nagma lives in a slum community in Mumbai, and studies in grade 7 at a local school. Nagma dreams of becoming a police officer- an unusual career choice for a girl from a conservative Muslim background. Though Nagma loves going to school, she was not learning too much there because of the teaching methods. The Read India Library Program has been a boon for her because she is encouraged to think, understand and ask questions.

Your donations will ensure that Nagma and 34 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.

Thank you, for doing your bit to ensure that ‘every child in India is in school and learning well‘.
