Thank you for ensuring that Shefa and 34 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program for a year.
Seven year old Shefa lives in a slum community in Mumbai, and studies in grade 2 at a local school. Though her attendance was good, she did not learn too much in school because of the pedagogical way of teaching. After enrolling in the Read India Library Program in her community, there has been a huge change in Shefa’s attitude towards studies. At the classes, she is encouraged to pick up and read books, and to ask questions when she doesn’t understand something. She’s become more interested in her studies now, and dreams of becoming a doctor. Her favorite subject is Urdu, and she loves going through the Urdu books in the Library.
Your donations will ensure that Shefa and 34 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.
Thank you, for doing your bit to ensure that ‘every child in India is in school and learning well‘.
