Hema now assists her father with balancing his account books

Hema
Dear leena, Anil, Vineet, Gautam, Preeti, Nivedita, Manoj, Sara, and Butson,

Thank you for supporting Hema and nineteen others like her for an entire year.
Hema is nine year old and is in grade 4 at the local village school in her village of Majra in Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh. She has been enrolled in the Read India program of Pratham, because though she could read simple words and do basic mathematics, her learning levels were well below what is expected of children her age. After being in the program for a few weeks, she has now started enjoying learning. She can now read paragraphs without hesitation and is very quick with addition.
Hema’s father owns and runs a small shop, and every evening she helps her father count money, and balance his accounts. Hema aspires to become a teacher one day.

Your donation would ensure that Hema, and 19 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.

Thank you, for doing your bit to ensure that ‘every child in India is in school and doing well‘.
