Sapna has discovered the joy of reading

DSC00354
Thirteen year old Sapna is from Andhra Pradesh.  She is in grade five and loves to sing and dance.  Her whimsical ways, coupled with poor standards of literacy, prevented her from being very interested in reading.  However, when she enrolled in Pratham’s Program, she discovered books written about dancers and singers. She wanted to learn all about them, and has got addicted to reading, and is fast developing the knowledge and skills require to peruse her dreams.

Your donations, Shreeya, Katelyn (x2), Cindy, Eric, Howard (x2), George, James, Jeffrey, Katherine (x2), Lee, Lowry (x2), Mark and Lisbet, Michael, Rajeev, Rick and Beth, and Tom, would ensure that Sapna, and 19 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age. Sapna, in Hindi, means ‘dream’- you have indeed made Sapna’s dreams come true.

Thank you, for doing your bit to ensure that ‘every child in India is in school and doing well‘.
