Ayushi loves reading picture books

Ayushi is a chirpy seven year old who studies in grade 2 in the local school in her village of Majra, Uttar Pradesh. . Since her knowledge and skills were below what is expected for her age, she has been enrolled in the Read India program conducted by Pratham.Apart from playing ‘cops and robbers’ with her friends, Ayushi loves to read picture books. As a part of the Read India program, she has access to a vast library of colourful books and reading cards. “I love the animals in the books”, says she.

Your donations, Benjamin (x2), Anupama, Adam (x2), Sanjiv-Rajani, Thomas, Peter and Kim, Bill B., Bill S., Craig, Dean and Julie, Elena and Shanen, George, Jeffery, Cindy (x2), Dennis (x2) and Jerame, will ensure that Ayushi, and 19 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.
