Kiran is a shy 8 year old from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, who loves to draw animals. Last year when she was enrolled into the English programme of Read India she could barely speak a sentence correctly. However, now she has many a tales to tell and that too in English. Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’ is her favourite book as she can draw so many animals from it.
Her mother and father who work all day in a flour mill are proud that their daughter can speak in English, something they could never dream of. Kiran wants to be a teacher one day and we’re sure she can with all the efforts she is putting in.
Your donations, Seetha, Lj Logan, Lesley (x2), Winda and Robert (x15), would ensure that Kiran, and 19 other children like her are enrolled in Pratham’s Read India program where they are provided need-based instruction in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to bring them to the literacy levels expected of children their age.
Thank you, for doing your bit to ensure that ‘every child in India is in school and doing well‘.
